BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield Jam (14-20) fell to the Reno Bighorns (22-10) 130-126 Tuesday night at the Dignity Health Event Center. Terrico White led the Jam with 34 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals.
Bakersfield got off to a hot start as they made five of their first six shots from the field and jumped out to an early 12-2 lead. The Jam came out strong not only on the offensive side but also on defensive side as they held Reno to 30.0 percent shooting in the opening period, leading to a 29-22 advantage after one quarter of play. In the second frame, the Jam stretched their lead to as many as 21 points and held a 63-53 lead at the half.
The Jam poured in 42 points in the third quarter and went into the final frame ahead 105-90. The Bighorns would fight back in the fourth period as they erased their double-digit deficit and took their first lead of the game at the 3:53 mark. The final three minutes of the game was a see-saw battle which included a total of five lead changes and two ties.
Down 129-126 with 15.3 seconds left to play, Xavier Silas missed a three-point attempt that would have tied the game. On the ensuing possession, the Bighorns were fouled and converted 1-of-2 free-throws that ultimately sealed the game. Overall, the Jam were outscored 40-21 in the final quarter.
In addition to White, five other Jam players scored in double-figures. Xavier Munford tallied 20 points, 12 assists, six rebounds and two blocks, while Silas and Askia Booker had 19 points apiece. Kyle Casey had 12 points and Javier Carter contributed 11 points and three blocks off the bench.
Ricky Ledo paced Reno with a game-high 40 points (13/18 FGs) to go along with seven assists and six rebounds, while Sacramento Kings assignee Duje Dukan finished with 22 points (8/13 FGs). Vincent Hunter added a double-double with 21 points and 15 rebounds.
The Jam will next travel to Frisco, Texas to take on the Texas Legends on Friday, February 19 at 5:00 p.m. PT.
