
West Virginia Power Announce 2015 Opening Day Roster

CHARLESTON, WV (April 9, 2015) - The West Virginia Power, Class-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, are proud to announce the initial 25-man roster for the 2015 season. The current squad features 19 players who will wear a Power uniform for the first time, with six returning players.
The current roster features 16 players taken in the MLB Draft. Of the 16 athletes, 14 were taken in last year's draft alone. Eight players who were signed as non-drafted free agents and one player selected in the Rule 5 draft will suit up for the Power this year. Additionally, six countries are represented on the Power including the United States, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Colombia, Lithuania, and Australia.
One of those new players to represent the Power is shortstop Cole Tucker. The 18-year-old is the only teenager on the current Power roster which has an average age of 22 years old. Drafted in the first round of last year's MLB draft, Tucker enters the 2015 season tabbed by Baseball America as the eighth-best prospect in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization and by MLB.com as the ninth ranked prospect.
Joining Tucker in the prospect rankings are outfielder Tito Polo and catcher Taylor Gushue. Polo is rated by Baseball America as the No. 29 prospect in the Pirates organization and Gushuerated by MLB.com as the No. 28 prospect in the Pirates farm system. Returning position players from prior seasons include catcher Francisco Diaz plus outfielders Jeff Roy and Elvis Escobar. Arms coming back to Charleston are Dovydas Neverauskas, Jake Burnette, and Miguel Rosario.
The Power will begin the 2015 campaign at home on Thursday, April 9, against the Savannah Sand Gnats. Gates will open at 6:00 p.m. with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. All Power games will once again be broadcast on Charleston's ESPN Radio 104.5 FM and 1490 AM, online at the club's website and on the West Virginia Power App.
