
West Tenn defeats Carolina

Carolina Mudcats News Release
Zebulon, NC- The Carolina Mudcats (34-28) fell 10-3 to the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx (25-38) in front of 5,989 fans Saturday night at Five County Stadium.
Jordan Smith (L, 4-2) started the game for Carolina, yielding three earned runs on seven hits and three walks during 5.1 innings. Jerry Gil made his Mudcat debut in relief of Smith, walking five batters while giving up three earned runs in 2/3 of an inning. Logan Ondrusek extended his scoreless innings streak to 15.2 innings, throwing 1.1 scoreless innings to finish up for Carolina.
Chris Heisey and Todd Frazier hit solo home runs for Carolina. Jose Castro drove in the Carolina's other run, plating Logan Parker on a single in the fourth inning.
Luis Munoz (W, 2-2) earned the win for West Tenn, tossing six innings while surrendering two earned runs on eight hits and two walks. Patrick Ryan and Anthony Varvaro combined for the last three innings in relief of Munoz, allowing just one run on the Frazier homer.
The series resumes at Five County Stadium Sunday afternoon at 2PM. Dallas Buck will start the game for Carolina while West Tenn will send LHP Danny Christensen (0-4, 4.57) to the mound. The Mudcats will host the 3rd annual "Pink in the Park Day" with proceeds going to the Angel Fund of Rex Healthcare in the battle against breast cancer.
