Adduci Doubles Smokies to Win, 6-5

Mobile, A.L. -The Smokies (28-35) Jim Adduci sets the pace in a 6-5 win over Mobile (35-29), Saturday Night at Hank Aaron Stadium. The Smokies rally from two down to score three in the eighth and win for a seventh time in eight games.

Diamond Backs top prospect pitcher and BayBears Jarrod Parker started the ball game but was struck by a line drive and left the game. The Smokies would then take advantage of the sudden exit and score three runs. The first run crossed home on a throwing error by Sean Coughlin. Tennessee then scored on a Ty Wright double bringing in Marquez Smith. Tyler Colvin sent the third run home on a sacrifice fly to center.

Mobile tied the score in the last of the fourth scoring three off Smokies starter Hung-Wen Chen. Pete Clifford drove in the Bears first run with a sacrifice fly. Mark Hallberg grounded a two-run double past first that evened the score at three.

The BayBears broke the tie with two runs in the fifth to go up 5-3.

Jim Adduci jump started the Smokies rally in the eighth to go back ahead 6-5. Adduci doubled to right which tied the score at 5-5 scoring Russ Canzler and Tony Thoomas. Blake Lalli then blooped a single into leftfield scoring Adduci which gave Tennessee the lead at 6-5.

Jake Muyco retired the Bears in the eighth without a run for a hold. Brian Schlitter (10) pitched the ninth and collected his second save in the last two games by setting the Bears down in order.

Tennessee is back at Smokies Park for a 5-game home stand starting Wednesday June 17th. The series will be against the Cincinnati Reds affiliate Carolina Mudcats and will be the final home stand of the first half.
