Wenatchee Wild News Release
WENATCHEE, Wash. - The Wenatchee Wild, proud members of the Western Hockey League (WHL), are pleased to announce that 2008-born defenseman Radoslav Dimitrov has signed a Scholarship and Development Agreement with the organization. Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Dimitrov is in his second season with OHA Edmonton in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL).
"Radoslav had a very good year playing at the U18 level with OHA Edmonton, starting the season as the only 15-year-old defenseman on the club," said Wenatchee Wild director of scouting Leigh Mendelson. "He has a strong combination of physical tools and a very competitive side to him. He comes from a good family with a very solid work ethic. As he develops in the WHL, he will be a young man that can play in all situations. We are excited to have Radi in the organization."
Dimitrov was a fifth-round selection in last year's WHL Prospects Draft, selected 110th overall by the former Winnipeg ICE prior to their relocation to Wenatchee. He spent this past season on OHA Edmonton's Under-18 roster, netting five goals and 15 assists in 29 appearances, plus a point-per-game average in three playoff games. Last season, he played the bulk of his season with the program's U15 team, posting 28 points in 27 games, but notched five points in four playoff games with the school's U17 squad.
He says he has been playing the sport since he was seven years old, and has received good reviews on the Wild from players already in the organization. He adds that coming to Wenatchee is a chance to build the details in his game and his awareness on the ice, and moving to the WHL also means a chance to enjoy some personal growth.
"Moving away from home is definitely going to be a great experience," said Dimitrov. "Moving into the summer, I'm going to work my hardest to improve myself and see where it goes from there."
The Wenatchee Wild congratulate Radoslav Dimitrov on signing his Scholarship & Development Agreement with the club, and proudly welcome him to the Wild family.
