
Broncos Set for Round 1 of Playoffs against Lethbridge

Swift Current, Sask. - The Swift Current Broncos will open their 2024 WHL Playoffs on Friday, March 29 against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
The Central Division Champion Broncos finished the season with a 40-22-4-2 record to earn the second-seed in the first round. Their opponents, the Hurricanes finished seventh with a record of 33-28-7-0.
The series schedule is as follows:
Game 1 - Friday, March 29 @ Swift Current
Game 2 - Saturday, March 30 @ Swift Current
Game 3 - Tuesday, April 2 @ Lethbridge
Game 4 - Wednesday, April 3 @ Lethbridge
*Game 5 - Friday, April 5 @ Swift Current (If Necessary)
*Game 6 - Sunday, April 7 @ Lethbridge (If Necessary) - 6 p.m.
*Game 7 - Tuesday, April 9 @ Swift Current (If Necessary)
All games are a 7 p.m. puck drop unless otherwise noted.
The Broncos and the Hurricanes split the season series, with each team winning four games. The Broncos outscored the Hurricanes 29-27 in the eight games. The Broncos powerplay was 4/26 in the series, while the Broncos went 17/27 on the penalty kill.
An intriguing matchup in the series will be in net as the Broncos Reid Dyck, and the Hurricanes Harrison Meneghin will go toe-to-toe. Dyck was 25-7-2-0 with a 2.70 goals-against-average, and a .911 save percentage and two shutouts. Meneghin was 27-20-5-0 with a 2.59 goals-against-average, and a .919 save percentage with three shutouts.
The Bronco's leading scorer was Conor Geekie who tallied 42 goals between the Broncos and the Wenatchee Wild, 22 of which were in a Broncos uniform. His 99 points overall were 11th in the WHL, and his 1.80 points-per-game were fourth in the league. The Hurricane's leading scorer is Miguel Marques who earned 74 points, 28 of which were goals.
The two clubs are tied in WHL history as the original incarnation of the Swift Current Broncos played in Swift Current in the "Western Canadian Hockey League" (WCHL) between 1967 and 1974 before moving to Lethbridge, keeping the Broncos name for their 12 seasons between 1974 and 1986. The Broncos returned to Swift Current for the 1986/1987 season.
