New Jersey righty Nick Webber fanned ten IronBirds over seven innings as the Cardinals beat Aberdeen 9-2 Thursday night at Skylands Park. Aberdeen has lost four in a row and falls to 12-24 on the season.
The IronBirds were held to just three hits, two by 14th-round pick Mark Fleisher, who delivered an RBI single in the 5th and a solo homer, his second of the year, in the 8th.
David Hernandez made the start, pitching four shutout innings, allowing four hits. He pitched out of several jams as Jersey stranded seven over the first four frames.
The Cardinals took the lead for good with a four-run 5th vs. Bryce Chamberlin and put the game away scoring four in the 8th off Bryan Dumesnil. Jersey has won six of its last nine games.
