
Webb Promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett, Pfeifer to Mississippi

PEARL, MS - The Atlanta Braves have made the following roster moves affecting the M-Braves roster prior to tonight's 6:00 pm game against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos at Trustmark Park. RHP Jacob Webb has been promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett and LHP Phil Pfeifer has been transferred to Mississippi from Gwinnett.
Webb, 24, named a Southern League All-Star on Wednesday has been promoted to Triple-A for the first time in his career. He is 1-2 with a 3.18 ERA (8 ER/22.2 IP) in 21 relief outings for the M-Braves this season with 35 strikeouts and 12 walks. The Riverside, CA native has seven saves, which led the club and is tied for fourth in the Southern League. Webb is fifth in the league with 16 games finished.
Overall, Webb is holding the opposition to just a .195 batting average, and right-handed hitters are being limited to just a .133 average. Webb was Atlanta's 18th round selection in the 2014 draft out of Tabor College (KS).
Pfeifer, 25, has appeared in 18 games for the Stripers this season and is 0-1 with an 8.10 ERA (24 ER/26.2 IP) with 25 strikeouts and 18 walks .
The Knoxville, TN native opened 2017 with the M-Braves, going 1-3 with a 3.45 ERA (17 ER/44.1 IP) and three saves (3-for-6) in 30 games. He did not allow a run over eight outings (10.2 IP) with the M-Braves in June 2017, going 1-0 with a .194 BAA and two saves and was named Mississippi's Pitcher of the Month for July 2017 by Atlanta (0-2, 1.38 ERA, .170 BAA, 1 save in 8 games). Pfeifer was promoted to Gwinnett on 7/31/17 and went 0-2 with a 3.60 ERA (6 ER in 15.0 IP) and one save in 11 games (1 start). He ranked among Braves' 2017 MiLB relief leaders in SO/9.0 IP (9th, 11.7) and saves (T-10th, 4).
Pfeifer was acquired by Atlanta from the LA Dodgers as part of the five-player Bud Norris trade on June 30, 2016. He was originally selected by the LA Dodgers in the 3rd round of the 2015 draft out of Vanderbilt.
The Mississippi Braves roster currently stands at 24 active players plus five on the DL.
