BayBears Score Four Unanswered to Win Series Opener

MOBILE, Ala. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, erased an early three-run deficit to defeat the Jackson Generals 4-3 in the series opener Friday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.

With the game tied 3-3 in the seventh, the BayBears (34-26) put runners on the corners with two outs. Jared Walsh came through with an RBI single to left-center field off Bud Jeter (0-1) to give Mobile its first lead of the game.

The Generals (33-28) plated two runs in the first and one in the third to grab a 3-0 lead. Zach Gibbons ignited a rally with an RBI single in the bottom of the third. Brendon Sanger hit an RBI single in the fourth, and Riley Unroe scored the tying run on a double-steal.

Jesus Castillo only lasted 3 2/3 innings in his start, but Alex Klonowski (3-0) allowed just one hit in 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief with five strikeouts. Conor Lillis-White recorded a six-out save, striking out the side in the eighth and working around a one-out bunt single in the ninth.

The BayBears continue the five-game home series against Jackson Saturday at 7:05 p.m. CDT. Right-handed pitcher Luis Pena (2-4, 4.50 ERA) is scheduled to make the start for Mobile.
