GLENS FALLS, NY -- Kevin Watters netted a hat trick and added an assist as the Adirondack Frostbite defeated the Richmond RiverDogs 8-3 in their home opener Saturday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Watters started the scoring just 27 seconds into the first period, banging home a loose puck in front of the net.

The Frostbite added a pair of power-play goals less than a minute apart to take a 3-0 lead 3:08 into the contest. Blake Stewart scored his fourth goal of the young season at 2:21, and David Ambler added his first of the season at 3:08.

After Richmond cut the lead to 3-2 on a pair of Warren Cooper goals, Mike Berry gave the Frostbite some breathing room at 18:40 of the first scoring his second of the season off of assists from Watters and Bob Rapoza.

Adirondack took full control of the game with three goals to start the second period. Cooper completed his hat trick at 17:05 of the second to make it 7-3 after 2.

Watters completed the scoring, and his hat trick, at 10:32 of the third. Scott Drevitch floated a long pass through the neutral zone, allowing Watters to get behind the defense. Watters deked goaltender Tyler Masters to the ice, and slide the shot into the net. The Frostbite have two hat tricks in the season's first two games, as Blake Stewart netted three goals in the season opener on Friday.

Once again, the Frostbite power play was hot in the game, going 4-for-9 on the man advantage. Adirondack is 8-for-17 on the power play in the first two games of the season.

The Frostbite and RiverDogs complete their season-opening series Sunday afternoon with a 1:05 p.m. matinee at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
