
Washington Spirit Rookie Rebecca Quinn Named to Canada WNT Roster for Algarve Cup

Boyds, MD - Washington Spirit rookie midfielder/defender Rebecca Quinn has been named to the Canada Women's National Team roster for the 2018 Algarve Cup, coming up February 28 - March 7 in Portugal.
Drawn into Group B, Canada will face Sweden in its opening match on February 28 at 1:00 p.m. ET at Bela Vista Municipal Stadium, followed by Russia on March 2 at 1:00 p.m. ET at Estádio Algarve, and Korea Republic on March 5 at 9:00 a.m. ET at Lagos Municipal Stadium. All teams will play a fourth match on March 7 to determine the tournament standings.
Washington recently selected Quinn with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 NWSL College Draft, out of Duke University. Quinn is coming off a senior season at Duke in which she was named a United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American, and helped the Blue Devils reach their fourth NCAA College Cup.
Quinn represented Canada in the 2016 Rio Olympics, helping lead the team to the bronze medal. The 22-year-old will compete in the Algarve Cup for a second straight year, entering the 2018 event with 33 career international caps, including 15 starts. She has scored three goals and assisted two others so far in her young career with the senior national team.

The Spirit has announced two exhibition games which will be included in the club's 2018 NWSL preseason schedule. Washington will return to Evergreen Sportsplex in Leesburg, Va. for the second straight year on Saturday's March 10 for a friendly against 22-time women's college champion University of North Carolina.
On March 17, the Spirit will host the first ever NWSL match played in Richmond, Va. when they face the North Carolina Courage at the historic City Stadium. Tickets for the game in Richmond are on sale now at RichmondKickers.com.
