Washington, PA- The 2,452 fans at CONSOL Energy Park did not have to wait until after the game to see fireworks as the Washington Wild Things', presented by Washington Financial, offense sparked a 12-0 romp and series win over the Rockford Aviators Friday at CONSOL Energy Park.

Washington jumped out in front early, as they scored twice in the bottom of the second inning against Rockford starting pitcher Kyle Bruggerman.

Washington was back at it again in the bottom of the sixth, putting up an additional run on the scoreboard as left fielder Scott Kalamar powered a leadoff solo home run, increasing their lead 3-0.

The Wild Things sent 14 batters to the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning, scoring nine runs on five hits, four walks and two errors, and increasing their lead 12-0.

On the hill, Washington starter Scott Dunn threw a spectacular game as he pitched 6 1/3, allowed three hits, no runs, one walk and struck out five. Relievers Al Yevoli, Matt Purnell and Tyler Elrod also turned in effective and scoreless performances as they tossed 2 2/3 innings, surrendered no hits, no runs and combined for five strikeouts.
