
Washington Falls to Florence Freedom

WASHINGTON, PA - The Washington Wild Things and the Florence Freedom squared off in a July 2, 2016 pitcher's match. The nine-inning competition was well fought; however, Washington fell 3-2.
RHP Sam Agnew-Wieland (2-0) led the Wild Things into battle; in seven innings on the mound he produced three strikeouts, allowed seven hits and lowered his ERA to 4.35. Washington worked defensively, eliminating six batters in a 1-2-3 manner.
Jamal Austin, Bryan Haar, David Popkins, Logan Uxa and Austin Wobrock executed hits during the outing. However, DH Jimmy Yezzo was a stand out offensively; he blasted a solo homerun in the second, and drove in Jamal Austin for the Wild Things' second run. Washington and Florence ended the competition with nine hits on each side.
RHP Andrew Woeck (1-0) entered for Washington in the eighth, and RHP Zac Grotz (0-1) started the ninth. The combine action gave Florence the go-ahead run.
The Wild Things and the Florence Freedom will go head-to-head tomorrow, July 3, 2016 in a 5:05 p.m. matchup. This action goes hand-in-hand with Kid's Club Day.
