Winnipeg, MB - The Moose Jaw Warriors made it a series heading back to the Hangar.

The Warriors scored four times in the first period and pulled off a 5-3 win over the Winnipeg ICE in Game 2, tying their second round series at 1-1.

The two teams will meet for Game 3 in Moose Jaw on Tuesday.

"It feels nice, obviously losing the first and winning the second one, so it's an even series coming back home and we're happy about that," Warriors forward Ryder Korczak said.

Korczak opened the scoring just 1:02 into the game and then the Warriors took full advantage of a five-minute power play later in the first to take a 4-0 lead after one.

Brayden Yager scored twice on the power play, and finished with three points in the win, while Martin Rysavy added the other goal during a stretch of 1:24 that saw the Warriors score three times.

Winnipeg scored three goals in the third period to make it a one-goal game with less than four minutes to go, but Josh Hoekstra scored into an empty net to seal the win.

"It was back-and-forth, highs and lows, you try to keep even keel as you can, but those games it's tough," Warriors assistant coach Scott King said.

"They pressed, they've got lots of good players and they're going to do that, so credit the guys who stuck with it and knew it wasn't going to be easy going into the third period."

Connor Ungar made 33 saves in the win, including 15 in the third period, to lift the Warriors to the victory.

The Warriors scored four goals on 11 shots in the first period, but were held to just nine shots over the final 40 minutes.

"If you look at yesterday, they scored three on us [in the first period], so setting the tone was a big part of our success tonight," Korczak said.

After Korczak opened the scoring, Winnipeg's Evan Friesen was called for a five-minute major for checking to the head.

The Warriors scored three goals in 1:24 on the ensuing power play to put together a big start.

Moose Jaw's penalty kill was busy after that, finishing the game 8-for-9, holding the ICE's power play at bay throughout the game.

"It was a lot of work, a lot of penalties, we can't be taking those penalties," Korczak said.

"They're going to have their chances, you're going to have to rely on your goaltender to make some saves, which he did, but the guys dug in and did a really good job," King said.

Korczak finished with a goal and two points, while Atley Calvert picked up two assists.

Zack Ostapchuk, Connor McClennon and Carson Latimer scored in the third for Winnipeg.

The Warriors and ICE will be at the Moose Jaw Events Centre on Tuesday for Game 3 and Wednesday for Game 4.
