Lukas Dragicevic to Compete at IIHF U18 World Championship
April 15, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Tri-City Americans News Release
Kennewick, WA - The Tri-City Americans announced today that defensemen Lukas Dragicevic has been named to Team Canada's roster for the World Under-18 Hockey Championship, set for April 20-30 in Basel and Porrentruy, Switzerland.
Dragicevic, from Richmond, B.C., had an exceptional 2022-23 season by recording 75 points (15-60-75) while appearing in all 68 games. He then added four assists in six playoff games. Dragicevic's 75 points were fourth amongst WHL defensemen and led all 2005-born Canadian Hockey League defenders.
He also set a new Americans franchise record with a 27-game point streak from October 14 to December 30, picking up 37 points (7-30-37) over that span. Last week it was announced that Dragicevic was named to the U.S. Division's First All-Star Team.
Drafted fourth overall by the Americans in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft, Dragicevic was ranked 12th amongst North American Skaters for the 2023 NHL Draft by NHL Central Scouting in their midterm rankings, released on January 13.
This will be the second time Dragicevic suits up for Team Canada's U18 team as he was named to last year's roster as an underaged player. He was the lone 2005-born defenseman for Canada at last year's event, recording three points (1-2-3) in four games.
Team Canada's first game comes April 20 against Team Sweden in Porrentruy.
