Warriors Prepare for 2019 Conexus Warriors and Legends Hall of Fame

It will be a special night in February when Chris Armstrong, Harlan Anderson and Lorne Humphreys will take their rightful place in the Conexus Warriors and Legends Hall of Fame.

"It's one of the marquee events for the Warriors," Warriors Director of Business Operations Corey Nyhagen said.

"We're a community-owned team, we're a big family here and we take a lot of pride in the alumni and our relationships that have grown over a number of years."

Armstrong and Anderson will join the likes of Theoren Fleury, Mark McKay, Ryan Smyth and more on the concourse at Mosaic Place coming up on Friday, February 7.

The banquet is a highlight on the Warriors calendar and the organization is hard at work getting set to build off a successful night.

"Last year, we moved the banquet down right onto the ice surface inside Mosaic Place and it's a really fitting venue because the Hall of Fame itself is housed right on the course there," Nyhagen said.

"Being able to convert the arena for that evening, bringing down the clock and using that as one of our screens, and really converting that facility to have that marquee event there was something that we've been looking at a number of years to do and we were proud and excited to do it.

"It was a little cold last year, it was one of the coldest days of the year (last year), but we put some contingency plans in place this year for that."

The weekend continues Saturday, February 8 with the annual Hall of Fame Game, which will see the current roster sporting special edition jerseys.

The Warriors bring the whole weekend together with-it being parents' weekend with the player's families in town to take in the weekend with the team.

Nyhagen said being able to bring their past and present together with this year's team being able to attend the banquet and honour the inductees are what makes the event special.

"Our current roster players can be part of this, we don't play a game that night, so the players and their families can come to the banquet, hear some of the stories, see of the players of the past and get messages from them," he said.

"We try to induct a player who's gone by the way of a pro career and induct another who's by the way of the education career because both are very important."

Armstrong played 240 games with the Warriors, posting 41 goals and 192 points, which ranks third in franchise history in defensive scoring.

He went on to play 488 career goes in the American Hockey League, 265 games in Germany and 162 games in the International Hockey League.

Anderson suited up in 258 career games with the Warriors. The fellow defenceman would post 32 goals and 139 points during his time in Moose Jaw.

Following his time in Moose Jaw, Anderson attended the University of Alberta where he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, and in 2013, he obtained his Chartered Accountants designation.

While attending school, he played five seasons for the Golden Bears and in 176 games he had 55 goals, 101 assists, and 156 points.

Anderson went on to play one season with the American Hockey League with the Springfield Falcons, and then the following year he played in Germany with the Heilbronn Falcons.

"These are all guys that we've watched at the Crushed Can over the years, a lot of special places in people's hearts," Nyhagen said.

The weekend also serves as a fundraiser for the Warriors' Education Fund through a live and silent auction, as well as fundraising efforts.

"It's a huge fundraiser for us," Nyhagen said. "We always try to play around with the silent auction and do some more fun things with them, the pizza for a year is always a favourite."

Tickets are available to all Warrior fans at $75 each or $500 for a table of eight.

"This event, we've really tried to keep it affordable to everybody," Nyhagen said.
