Royals' Brock Gould Named to 2020 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals would like to congratulate goaltender Brock Gould on being named to the upcoming Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.

The annual contest will see 40 of the top NHL Draft eligible players from the Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League compete on Thursday, January 16, 2020 in Hamilton, ON. The 40 CHL players competing in the game are selected by all 31 NHL clubs, and then divided into teams by NHL Central Scouting.

A product of Colorado Springs, CO, Gould was named to NHL Central Scouting's November "Players to Watch" list for the 2020 NHL Draft, which takes place on June 26-27, 2020 in Montreal, Quebec.

The 6-4, 200 lb netminder is the second player in Royals' history to be named to the Top Prospects Game. Former Royals' forward Eric Florchuk was a member of Team Cherry for the 2018 contest.

Currently in his second WHL season, Gould has posted a 4-5-1-0 record to go along with a 2.66 goals against average (GAA), a 0.898 save percentage (SV%) and one shutout in 12 games for the Royals.

So far in his WHL career, Gould has played in 45 games for Victoria and has collected a 11-19-2-1 record, a GAA of 3.43, a 0.880 SV% and one shutout.

The 2001-born netminder was originally drafted by the Royals in the eighth round, 170th overall, in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft.

Victoria will play their final two home game before the eight-day Christmas break tomorrow and Wednesday when they host the Spokane Chiefs at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
