
Warriors Fall to Iowa

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors fell to the Iowa Energy 133-120 Saturday night.
Nemanja Nedovic, currently on assignment from the Golden State Warriors, led Santa Cruz with 22 points. Lance Goulbourne logged a double-double with 21 points and 11 boards, while Cameron Jones and Seth Curry each scored 20. Kiwi Gardner scored 16 points off the bench and had a game-high five steals. Ognjen Kuzmic, also on assignment from Golden State, scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Iowa was led by Moses Ehambe, who scored a game-high 28 points off the bench. Patrick Christopher scored 25 points, while Othyus Jeffers had 20. Curtis Stinson recorded a double-double with 20 points and a game-high 12 assists, and Glen Rice Jr., currently on assignment from the Washington Wizards, scored 15.
Iowa went ahead 16-6 in the first quarter, but an 8-0 Warriors run brought Santa Cruz within two. The Energy built their lead to 13 in the second frame, but Santa Cruz kept it close and entered intermission trailing by four. The Warriors began the second half on an 8-2 run, taking the 70-68 lead on a Nemanja Nedovic three-pointer. Iowa tied the game on the next possession, and there were three more ties in the period. The Energy went on an 11-2 run late in the third and entered the final frame ahead by seven. Santa Cruz scored the first five points of the fourth quarter to come within two, but Iowa responded with four straight points. The Warriors came within two points once more with 7:49 remaining, but Iowa again scored four straight, ultimately extending its lead to double digits to secure the victory.
Santa Cruz shot 48.0% from the field compared to Iowa's 57.1% field goal shooting. The Warriors held the advantage on rebounds (44-39), steals (13-8) and points in the paint (58-56) while committing fewer turnovers (16-18). The Energy had more assists (32-23).
