Reno Bighorns News Release

Boise, Idaho - Kevin Murphy knocked down a jumper with 4.4 seconds remaining in the game to give the Idaho Stampede a 101-99 win over the Reno Bighorns. Murphy finished with a game-high 32 points.

The Stampede entered the fourth quarter with an 82-74 lead. The Bighorns hit seven out of eight free-throws down the stretch, including two by KC Rivers to tie the game up at 99 with 19 seconds on the clock. Kevin Murphy ran the clock down before making his move for the potential game-winning shot. With 4.4 seconds left, Murphy hit a pull-up jumper over Reno guard DeQuan Jones giving the Stampede a 101-99 advantage. With little time remaining, Reno forward Mo Charlo took the inbounds pass and dribbled towards the basket. Charlo lost his footing and slipped, attempting to pass the ball to teammate Bryan Davis, but Stampede forward Jason Ellis grabbed the loose ball and sealed the victory.

Kevin Murphy led all scorers with 32 points, making 13 of 14 free-throws. Dallas Lauderdale and Jason Ellis each grabbed double-digit rebounds, recording 10 and 15 respectively, as the Stampede pulled down 20 offensive boards as a team. The rebound advantage helped Idaho post 31 second-chance points.

DeQuan Jones led Reno in scoring with 21 points. KC Rivers and Bryan Davis each posted 17 points off the bench. The loss drops Reno 1.5 games behind division-leader Los Angeles in the West Division standings.

The Stampede (23-19) travel to Sioux Falls next weekend for back-to-back games. The Bighorns (24-17) will host Rio Grande Valley on March 17 for their next matchup.
