SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The NBA D-League Champion Santa Cruz Warriors (10-16) were defeated by the Idaho Stampede (10-16) 108-97 on Wednesday at Kaiser Permanente Arena.

Verdell Jones III and Darington Hobson paced Santa Cruz with 21 points apiece. Mac Koshwal recorded a double-double posting 10 points and 11 rebounds in his first home contest for the Warriors.

Treveon Graham paced the Stampede with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Brandon Fields and Pierre Jackson added 16 points apiece in the victory over Santa Cruz.

The first quarter was a tight yet low-scoring affair between the two squads, complete with 5 lead changes and 2 ties. Santa Cruz was held to 28% shooting from the floor and would finish the first frame trailing by two points.

The offense picked up in second quarter for Idaho behind a 65% team shooting effort, helping the opponent to as much as a 13 point lead. The Stampede would enter the break with an 11-point advantage.

The third quarter would see the Stampede maintain their distance and keep their lead throughout the entire frame. The Warriors would cut their deficit to 5 points heading into the fourth quarter after Pierre Jackson fouled Aaron Craft with time expiring. Craft would make both free throw attempts to give the Warriors an extra boost to start the final period.

Though Darington Hobson would score 12 points in the fourth quarter, the Stampede would outscore the Warriors 34-28 to claim the victory.

The Santa Cruz Warriors will face off against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Friday at 8 p.m. PST at Kaiser Permanente Arena. The game will mark the first of four national broadcast appearances scheduled for this season for the Warriors.
