Bakersfield Jam News Release

PHOENIX - The Phoenix Suns announced today they have signed forward Cory Jefferson to a 10-day contract. Jefferson began the season with the Suns, seeing action in six games with the team.

"Although we were looking forward to having Cory in a Jam uniform, we're equally happy to see him back in Phoenix wearing his Suns uniform," said Bakersfield Jam General Manager Bubba Burrage.

A 6-9, 218-pound forward, Jefferson initially signed with the Suns prior to training camp on Sept. 16 and posted totals of 12 points and 10 rebounds in 28 minutes in six appearances with the team before being waived on Jan. 7.

A second-year NBA player, the 25-year-old averaged 3.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 10.6 minutes in 50 games (one start) as a rookie with the Brooklyn Nets in 2014-15. The 60th overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft by Philadelphia before being traded to Brooklyn on draft night, Jefferson twice scored in double-digits with the Nets last season including his first career double-double with career-highs of 12 points and 13 rebounds against the Suns on March 6.

From Killeen, Texas, Jefferson played collegiately at Baylor University where he averaged 8.9 points in 130 games over four seasons, including 13.5 points as a junior and senior. As a senior in 2013-14, Jefferson averaged career-bests of 13.7 points and 8.2 rebounds to earn All-Big 12 Second Team honors and help the Bears to a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA tournament.

Jefferson will again wear number 55.
