Moose Jaw Warriors News Release
The Moose Jaw Warriors weren't able to hold on to a second period lead and fell 7-3 to the Swift Current Broncos Saturday at the Credit Union Iplex.
Swift Current came out hard in the opening period and was able to put a lot of pucks at Warriors 17-year-old rookie goal Jackson Berry.
The Broncos outshot the Warriors 20-5 in the opening period, but the Warriors were able to strike first six minutes into the game.
On the fore-check, the Warriors controlled the puck along the Broncos right boards.
Defenceman Libor Zabransky came off the blue line to get the puck at the half-wall.ÃÂ He played the puck back to the blue line for Ryder Korczak.
Korczak skated to the top of the right circle and then made a pass between the circles where Owen Hardy deflected in his 8th of the season.
With under three minutes left in the period, the Broncos responded when Sergei Alkhimov deflected a puck over the Warrior goal line.
At the start of the second period, the Warriors made changes to their lines and the move paid off as they were able to get pressure and early goals from Brayden Tracey (3:38) and Ryder Korczak (5:20) to take a 3-1 lead.
Throughout the rest of the second period, the Warriors had moments to add to their goal total but were unable to finish.
On the other side of the red line, Swift Current was able to force a number of turnovers in the Moose Jaw zone which helped them to get pressure and that led to four goals for the Broncos and a 5-3 lead.
Swift Current made it 6-3 with an early goal in the third period and then added an empty net goal in the final minutes.
Ryder Korczak led the Warriors with a goal and three points while Brayden Tracey had a goal and two points.
