RENO, Nev. - The Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the Reno Bighorns 99-95 Friday night in a game where six Warriors scored in double figures.
Santa Cruz's Cameron Jones scored a game-high 26 points and dished out a game-high eight assists. Joe Alexander and Golden State Warriors assignee Nemanja Nedovic each scored 12 points, while Lance Goulbourne chipped in with 12 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Kiwi Gardner scored 10 points, in addition to seven assists and a game-high five steals. Hilton Armstrong also scored 10 points and Golden State Warriors assignee Ognjen Kuzmic grabbed 10 boards.
Reno was paced by DeQuan Jones, who scored 20 points. Mo Charlo logged the only double-double of the night with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Walker Russell scored 17 points off the bench.
There were three lead changes in the first half. Reno went ahead by nine points midway through the first quarter, but Santa Cruz went on a 10-2 run to come within one point with 3:13 remaining in the period. The Warriors went ahead 29-28 off a Kiwi Gardner step-back three-pointer with 9:23 left in the second quarter and never looked back, maintaining their lead for the rest of the contest. Santa Cruz built a double-digit lead in the third quarter, owning as much as a 16-point advantage. Reno mounted a comeback in the fourth, but Cameron Jones hit a floating jump shot with 39.0 seconds remaining to put Santa Cruz ahead by five and ultimately seal the victory.
Santa Cruz held the edge on field goal shooting (45.1%-43.3%), assists (24-23), and committed fewer turnovers (19-21). Reno grabbed more rebounds (47-36), and each team had 11 steals and three blocks.
