EDINBURG, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (1-7) fell to Santa Cruz Warriors (4-3) on Saturday night, 109-126. Jaron Blossomgame earned his second double-double in a row with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
The Warriors led 11-0 the beginning of the first quarter. Denver Nuggets flex assignee, Jarred Vanderbilt, totaled 13 points in the first and seven rebounds, shooting 6-10 from the field for the Vipers.
RGV came back in the second quarter 31-24 while shooting 55.0 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from the paint. Santa Cruz shot 55.0 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from the arc.
Six players scored in the double-digits for RGV; Vanderbilt (24 pts.), Blossomgame (17 pts.), Jacobi Boykins (15 pts.), Brandon Sampson (14 pts.). and Kerwin Roach and Angel Rodriguez (13 pts. each).
Rodriguez tallied a double-double with his 13 points and 10 assists. He racked up six rebounds and three steals. Vanderbilt totaled nine rebounds while shooting 58.8 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from the arc.
For the Warriors, Devyn Marble racked up 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Jared Cunningham totaled 17 points and three rebounds while shooting 50.0 percent from the field. Four more players scored in the double figures for Santa Cruz.
