Warriors Cut by Blades at Mosaic Place

The Moose Jaw Warriors started strong but the Saskatoon Blades responded with four goals in the second period and went on to hand the Warriors an 8-2 loss.

The Warriors were a hungry team to start the game.  They were all over the Blades inside the Saskatoon zone which led to an 8-0 advantage on the shot clock in the first four minutes.

On the power-play three minutes into the frame, Martin Lang ripped a shot from the left circle that went off the post and then bounced off a Blade defender and over the goal line to give Moose Jaw an early 1-0 lead.

As the period continued, the Blades established a consistent physical game which allowed for more pressure inside the Moose Jaw zone.  With under five minutes left in the period, Nolan Kneen snuck off the right blueline and tied the game at one when he grabbed a loose puck on the side of the Warriors net.

On a 4-on-3 power-play inside the final minute of the period, the Warriors worked the puck to the right circle for Logan Doust who blasted a shot to the back of the net to give Moose Jaw a 2-1 lead heading to the intermission.

In the second period, the Blades kept pushing in the second period and they were able to tie the game at 7:06 when Caiden Daley was able to chop at a bouncing puck in the Moose Jaw crease.

Saskatoon kept the pressure on the Warriors, they put 19 shots on net in the period and scored three goals just over three minutes apart in the final five minutes to take a 5-2 lead.

In the third, Saskatoon outshot Moose Jaw 12-5 and added three more goals and went on to hand the Warriors an 8-2 loss.

Chase Hartje picked up two assists for Moose Jaw, while Tristen Robins and Colton Dach both had two goals and four points for Saskatoon.

Moose Jaw was 2-for-5 on the power-play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

These two division rivals will finish their weekend home-and-home series Sunday in Saskatoon.  Catch all the action on Country 100 starting with the PreGame Show at 1:40 pm.

On Monday, the Warriors head west for a season-high 6-game in 12-day road trip which starts Wednesday in Spokane.
