LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The BlueClaws pulled off another come-from-behind win on Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Park, taking a 4-3 victory over Greenville.
T.J. Warren was the offensive hero once again, notching a bases-loaded double to turn a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead. Lakewood trailed 3-0 entering the bottom of the sixth, but scored all four runs off of reliever Michael Rozier to complete the comeback. Warren finished the game 3-for-4 with three RBIs. He is now hitting .571 (12-for-21) in his last seven games with seven RBIs.
Rozier (0-1) fell apart after another strong performance by a Greenville starter. Ryne Lawson did not allow a run in five innings, before departing to start the sixth. Rozier, who was making just his second appearance of the season, gave up all four runs on two hits. He also walked a batter and hit a batter.
Mike Durant got the BlueClaws scoring going in the sixth with a base hit to score Dominic Brown. Rozier then walked Matt Rizzotti, who was making his return fro the disabled list, to load the bases and set up Warren's heroics.
The surge came in support of Jacob Diekman, who was roughed up early, but settled down to earn the victory. Diekman (3-5) gave up a pair of first-inning runs on two hits and a walk, but lasted six innings to take the victory.
Jared Simon pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his ninth save in his last nine chances. He has not allowed a run in his last 13 appearances spanning 11 2/3 innings.
Greenville added to their early lead with back-to-back hits off of Diekman in the fourth. Oscar Tejeda led off the frame with a double and came across on a Juan Apodaca base hit.
Lakewood had a chance to add to their lead loading up the bases against reliever Ryne Miller. But Felix Ventura got Joel Naughton to fly out to end the threat.
The BlueClaws moved to 53-41 on the season, eclipsing Lake County for the best mark in the North Division. Lakewood (15-9) also picked up a game on first-place West Virginia in the second half race.
Lakewood has a chance to finish the series with a win on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. Walter Tejeda (4-4) will make the start for the BlueClaws, while Felix Doubront (8-6) will take the mound for the Drive (9-15, 49-45).
