Jackets Shutout by Shorebirds

Salisbury, MD - The Augusta GreenJackets (41-28, 15-9) were blanked by the Delmarva Shorebirds (49-41, 13-11) on Sunday 2-0 in the third game of a four game series. Starter Chance Corgan suffered the loss and Augusta was shutout for the ninth time this season.

The Shorebirds scored the only run they needed in the third inning on an RBI single from Matt Tucker scoring Matt Angle from third base. Angle connected for a one-out triple to get into scoring position.

Delmarva scored its second run in the fourth inning on an RBI sac fly from Angle scoring Jason White for a 2-0 lead.

Corgan (2-3) allowed both run and allowed five hits over five innings while walking three and striking out six.

Delmarva starter Luis Noel (9-4) worked seven shutout innings scattering five hits for the win.

Augusta did not collect multi-hits in any inning and left eight runners on base with four in scoring position.

The GreenJackets and Shorebirds finish up their series on Monday night with Augusta sending right-hander Oliver Odle (6-4, 4.15) to the mound looking for the split. The Shorebirds send lefty Nathan Nery (1-1, 7.17). First pitch for the series finale is at 7:05 p.m.

Game Notes:

Wilmin Rodriguez worked two shutout innings for Augusta and David Mixon pitched a scoreless eighth.

Shane Jordan had the only multi-hit game for Augusta finishing 2-for-4.

The GreenJackets are 2-5 on the current eight game road trip.

Augusta fell to 1.5 back of first place in the Southern Division.

Delmarva out hit Augusta 7-6 in the game.
