Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

The Cutters scored five runs in the first inning Monday night as Josh Warner pitched six scoreless innings and got the 6-2 win over the Jamestown Jammers.

Every Crosscutter had a hit in a soggy game played under threat of downpour all night. Kyle Hoppy reached four times and had two doubles. Roman Quinn extended his hit streak to 11 games, the longest for a Crosscutter this season.

In the first inning, Cameron Perkins plated Quinn for the first run of the game on a line-drive single to center field. Three batters later, Mitch Walding hit an opposite-field double to score Hoppy and make it 2-0. Yan Carlos Olmo then blooped a single into center to score Larry Greene and Walding, before scoring himself on an error.

Warner was fantastic, allowing just two hits in six shutout innings.

The first Jammers run came off of reliever Chris Nichols in the seventh, when Jose Behar doubled in Matt Juengel. Behar had an all-around strong night, doubling twice and throwing out three base-runners.

Williamsport answered in the bottom half of the inning when Hoppy hit a double off the wall in right field to score Quinn and up the lead to 6-1.

Jamestown would score one more run, but Matt Sisto locked down Warner team-leading fourth win in the ninth inning.

The Cutters improve to 26-41 on the year and to 13-12 in August.

The Cutters continue their three-game series with Jamestown Tuesday night.. First pitch against the Jamestown Jammers is at 7:05. Every Cutters game can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com.
