Spinners, ValleyWorks Job Fair Moved to Wednesday, August 29

LOWELL, MASS. - The Lowell Spinners, Class A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, announced today the first ever Lowell Spinners Job Fair has been moved from Tuesday, August 28 to Wednesday, August 29 as a result of the forecast for inclement weather in the overnight hours into the morning over the next 24 hours.
Hosted in conjunction with the ValleyWorks Career Center and Career Center of Lowell, the job fair is aimed at getting people of the Merrimack Valley back to work, with over 45 employers scheduled to participate, actively looking to fill positions.
"We are beyond thrilled to be able to bring this event to LeLacheur Park," said Spinners President and General Manager Tim Bawmann. "This will be more than your typical job fair, as job seekers and employers alike will have a chance to be on the field meeting perspective employers and hopefully hitting a home run that finds them their next job."
Employers include local organizations such as Lowell General Hospital, Metro PCS and UMass Lowell, as well as larger regional organizations such as UPS, Verizon Wireless and Frito Lay.
All job seekers will receive a buy-one-get-one coupon, good for a complimentary ticket to any of the Spinners final two home games.
The decision to postpone the event was made early Monday morning in an effort to give potential job seekers as much time as possible to adjust their schedules.
"We built in a rain date hoping to not have to use it," said Spinners Director of Media Relations Jon Boswell. "However Mother Nature had different ideas and given the nature of the event it made sense to move to Wednesday in the best interests of all involved."
The event is free to attend for all job seekers and employers looking to participate can still get involved by contact the ValleyWorks Career Center at (978) 469-7819.
"We look forward to starting the careers of our ballplayers on their way to Fenway Park," said Bawmann. "We are excited about the possibility of starting new careers for any number of local residents Wednesday with this great event."
