December 15, 2009 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Green Bay Gamblers News Release

On Saturday night (12/12) the Green Bay Gamblers collected over 1,200 pairs of mittens and gloves in the 1st Annual Warm Hearts for Warm Hands Mitten Toss presented by Fox Communities Credit Union.

The 4,072 in attendance tossed the mittens on the ice when rookie defenseman Matt Stewart tallied the Gamblers first goal

All mittens collected were given to Warm Hearts for Warm Hands, which is a charity that donates mittens and gloves to people in the various Northeast Wisconsin communities who cannot afford these items.

The Warm Hearts for Warm Hands Mitten Toss is the latest promotion in which the Gamblers have implemented to help those in our community. This past October the annual Caps for Cancer Toss collected 2,953 hats and raised $6,000 for the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic at Aurora Baycare. All hats collected were given to Heavenly Hats, which is a charity that donates hats to individuals with cancer.

In November the 1st Annual A Pair And A Spare hockey game collected nearly 1,000 pairs of socks and underwear for those in need.

On January 23 the 11th Annual Teddy Bear Toss will take place. Last year, the Teddy Bear Toss saw a Gambler record crowd of 6,785 toss 6,021 bears onto the ice. The bears go to children who are in the pediatric care units at local Aurora BayCare hospitals.
