San Jose, CA. - Donnie Walton 's flair drove in the game-winning run for the Modesto Nuts in a 7-4 win against the San Jose Giants on Saturday night at Municipal Stadium.
Down by a run in the ninth, Dylan Rheault (L, 1-3) checked in for the Giants (30-26) to try and nail down the save. After getting the first out quickly, Rheault allowed a double to Tyler Baker . To tie the game, Luis Liberato hit a bouncing ball up the middle. Shortstop C.J. Hinojosa, ranging to his right, reached out and could not snag the shoulder-high bouncing ball. It bounced off the edge of his glove while Brigman scored. Morgan reached second and went to third on the error representing the winning run. With two strikes, Walton blooped a ball down the left-field line for the go-ahead RBI single.
Kyle Lewis and Joe Rizzo added insurance RBI singles in the four-run ninth. Lewis finished with two RBI going 2-for-4.
Wyatt Mills (W, 4-0) recorded a perfect ninth with a pair of strikeouts. Mills worked two scoreless innings working around a walk and a single.
