Lake Elsinore, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino trailed by four runs heading into the ninth at Lake Elsinore on Friday but fell 8-6 despite bringing the tying run to the plate in the frame. The loss dropped the Sixers to 27-28 on the year but they still maintain a one-game lead in the Cal League's South Division as all three other divisional clubs sit at 26-29.
Inland Empire had Storm starter Reggie Lawson (4-2) in trouble in the first as he walked Jahmai Jones and Jo Adell and then gave up a RBI single to Brandon Marsh before recording an out. Lawson escaped despite another walk in the frame by leaving the bases loaded. He worked out of trouble in the second and allowed another run in the third as Marsh singled again, eventually scoring on a sac fly to make it 2-1 IE, Lawson however got a double-play to end the frame. The Storm took a 4-2 lead in the fourth when Brad Zunica notched a three-run homer to right against Erik Manoah (1-5). The Storm added two more runs inn the fifth on Eguy Rosario 's two-run double. The Sixers trimmed the lead to 6-4 in the top of the sixth on Richie Fecteau 's two-run homer (2) to right field but Lake Elsinore got the runs back in the bottom of the inning on a RBI double from Nate Easley and a RBI bunt base-hit from Buddy Reed . In the ninth Jones walked to open the frame against Storm righty Dauris Valdez and then scored when Adell tripled off the top of the wall in dead center. Adell then scored on a wild pitch making it 8-6. Roberto Baldoquin coaxed a one-out walk but Valdez got the next two batters to fly out to end the contest.
