Walks doom Otters in 2-1 loss
June 9, 2005 - Frontier League (FL)
Evansville Otters News Release
Mike Reese walked with the bases loaded for the second time in the game in the top of the eighth inning, giving the Richmond Roosters a 2-1 win over the Evansville Otters.
The Otters scored first in the bottom of the first inning on a single by Denver Stuckey and a double by Juan Downing. Curt Moenter and three relievers combined to shut down the Otters the rest of the way as that was the only run Evansville scored in the game.
Richmond tied the game in the fourth on Reese' first bases loaded walk of the inning, forcing in Brian Baker against Chris Pillsbury. The game remained tied into the eighth when the Roosters once again loaded the bases. Reese came up a second time with the bases loaded and drew the 10th Otters walk of the night to untie the score.
Evansville will send Ben Foster (1-1) to the mound tomorrow in the getaway game. Matt Schweitzer (1-1) will start for Richmond.
