ROCKFORD, Ill. – Errant defense helped the River City Rascals rally in the ninth inning to beat the Rockford RiverHawks, 3-2.

The Rascals rallied to tie the game in the eighth inning on a wild pitch by Adam Kroft and began the ninth when Rockford shortstop Olmo Rosario's error allowed the go-ahead run to reach base. Tony Calderon blooped a single into shallow right field to drive in Dave Arnold with the winning run.

Rico Santana drove in both Rockford's runs and extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a 2-for-4 night. Santana led off the fourth inning with his fourth home run to the game and doubled to right center in the fifth inning to give the RiverHawks a 2-1 lead.

Wes Hutchinson (1-0) pitched a scoreless inning of relief to win. Joe Thatcher got the final two outs for his second save as the RiverHawks stranded the tying run at second base. Rockford left nine on base and failed to capitalize on a bases-loaded, no-out opportunity in the first inning.

Jason Glosser (2-1) lost in relief.
