St. Cloud Rox News Release
St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox and the La Crosse Loggers capped off a two-game series at Joe Faber Field Friday night. The Rox won 3-2 off a walk off walk in the bottom of the ninth over the Loggers.
The Rox would take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first just like in game one of the series. Clay Williamson led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice hit by Devin Pearson. Adam Martin hit the RBI single to score Williamson for the Rox lead.
La Crosse would tie the game up 1-1 in the top of the second as they scored off a sacrifice fly to right field by Chris Keck.
It was not until the top of the fifth inning where we would have a scoring change as the Loggers took a 2-1 lead over the Rox on an error with two outs on the board.
St. Cloud was able to capitalize in the bottom of the eighth inning as Luke Weber led off earning a walk on seven pitches. Bradley Strong would then come in to pinch run for Weber at first. Strong moved to second as Tim Colwell posted a sacrifice hit and then stole third. A walk allowed Daniel Comstock to reach first putting two runners on base with one out for the Rox. Blake Headley followed reaching on a fielder's choice, allowing Comstock to move to third and Strong to slide under the tag at home to tie the game up 2-2.
The Rox held the Loggers in the top of the ninth as Adam Maxon took three up and three down from La Crosse to head into the bottom half of the inning tied at two each.
Leading off in the bottom of the ninth was Eric Loxtercamp reaching on a four-pitch walk. Martin moved Loxtercamp to second as he reached first on an error by the second baseman. The Rox second walk of the inning came as Strong won the battle on five pitches to load the bases on one out. St. Cloud found themselves in a two out situation as Comstock was up to bat trying to keep the inning alive with the bases loaded. The Loggers threw four straight balls to give the Rox a walk off walk to win by a final score of 3-2.
Starting on the mound and pitching eight innings for the Rox was Lucas Long as he recorded six strikeouts and only allowed nine hits in the win over La Crosse. Coming in as relief for St. Cloud was Adam Maxon, pitching one inning and recording the win to move his record to 4-4 on the season.
The St. Cloud Times Rox' Player of the Game is Eric Loxtercamp. Loxtercamp was 2-for-2 including a double and scoring one run for the Rox.
