Waterloo, Iowa - The Waterloo Bucks (26-7) recorded their 50th win of the season by defeating the Battle Creek Bombers (14-19) 7-2 on Thursday night. The Bucks' 50 wins tie them for the most wins in Northwoods League history. A win on Friday will give them sole possession of the wins record.
The Bucks struck early and never looked back after the first inning. Waterloo pounced on Bombers' starter Caleb Vincent (L, 3-3) who allowed all seven runs in the first inning on six hits and three walks. Waterloo was shut down from there, Kellen Urbon retired all 12 batters he faced, and Cam Wysocki and Kade Scivicque twirled three scoreless innings.
Scivicque also connected for an opposite field home run in the ninth off Liam Pegg. The Bombers' managed a run off Bucks' starter Jake Stone (W, 4-1) who went six innings allowing five hits while striking out five.
The Bombers and Bucks play one last time in interdivision play on Friday night as Waterloo goes for the record. Ryan Lavoie will take the mound for Battle Creek with first pitch set for 7:35 ET.
