The Border Cats snapped an eight-game losing streak in a big way Thursday night as they crushed the Wisconsin Woodchucks 16-3 before 920 fans at Subway Field. With the game tied 2-2, the Cats blew the game open in the 4th inning by sending 15 men to the plate and scoring 11 times. The win improved Thunder Bay's second half record to 7-25, while the Woodchucks fell to 15-18.

Dylan Becker (Missouri State University) powered the Cats attack as he belted a 4th inning grand slam home run, his eighth round tripper of the season. Becker also had an RBI single in the inning as he finished the night 3-4 with five runs batted in and three runs scored. Philip Lyons (Nicholls State University) went 2-4 with an RBI and scored twice, while Jason Vosler (Northeastern University) had a 2-5 night at the plate with a double, three runs scored an an RBI. Tyler Duplantis (Nicholls State University) upped his team leading RBI total to 53 as he drove in two runs, going 2-6 with a double and a run scored.

Cameron Wood (Redlands Community College) came out of the bullpen and delivered five solid innings in a starting role to get the win and improve his record to 3-1. Wood gave up six hits and two unearned runs with three walks and four strikeouts. Mason Schiff (University of Mary) picked up the save in his Cats debut as he allowed just one run over the final four innings with one strikeout.

The Cats and Woodchucks wrap up their two-game series tonight at 7:05. Danny Shields (Carleton College) is the scheduled starter for the Cats as the righthander will make his first appearance of the season after signing with the club on Wednesday.
