Asheville Tourists News Release

Charleston, SC-- Playing in front of the largest crowd Asheville has seen all season was no problem for Konner Wade and his Tourists teammates as they quieted the Charleston RiverDogs bats and fans on Thursday night with a 4-1 victory. Wade was dominant for the second time in his last three starts and a big first inning set the table for the win.

Wade pitched seven innings, scattered five hits, and surrendered only one run en route to his fourth win of the season. The Tourists righty matched a season high with seven strikeouts and issued just one walk.

Offensively, it all started before Wade even took the mound. David Dahl and Cesar Galvez reached on back-to-back infield singles to start the game. Raimel Tapia immediately put Asheville in front with a two-run triple to left. Ryan McMahon made it 3-0 with a single that scored Tapia and the Tourists never looked back.

Charleston's only run of the game came on a solo blast down the left field line by Jose Rosario in the fifth. The Tourists countered with a run in the sixth when Correlle Prime knocked a two-out double to left plating Galvez.

Troy Neiman spelled Wade and worked the final two frames without allowing a hit. Neiman struck out four to earn his second save of the season. Leading off the bottom of the ninth, Mike Ford thought he had a Home Run, but Jordan Patterson climbed the wall to bring it back and help seal the win.

Galvez finished with three stolen bases as the Tourists bid farewell to their three game road losing skid. Asheville and Charleston are back in action on Friday night with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm.
