HAUPT HALTS VOYAGER SKID

Great Falls snapped their five-game losing skid with a 3-1 win in Helena Wednesday night, thanks in large part to Dillon Haupt. The Voyager backstop drove in all three runs on the night, plating two with a double in the first, and then homering in his second straight start, a solo shot in the third. He also showed off his arm, cutting down two Brewers on steal attempts. The Great Falls staff did the rest, allowing just one run on five hits. The win moves Great Falls back into a tie for first place in the PL North with Missoula.

HAUPT TO IT

With his big night last night, Haupt is now hitting .348 in six games, and has hit two home runs while driving in seven. In those six appearances, the San Diego, Calif., native has picked up at least one hit in five of those contests and had multiple hits in three of those games. Of his eight hits, five have gone for extra-bases with three doubles and two homers.

OFFENSIVE STRUGGLES

Although the Voyagers did break their skid with last night's 3-1 win, their struggles at the plate continued. Other than Haupt, Great Falls managed just four hits against Brewer pitching. The Voyagers still own a league-low run total with 69 (4.1 runs/game) and have now dipped below Billings for the lowest team batting average in the league at .244. The Voyagers also have the lowest OBP (.362) and SLG (.308) in the PL. In addition, Great Falls hitters have struck out 152 times, more than any other team in the league.

FREUDENBERG DEALS QS

Great Falls starter Chris Freudenberg delivered his second quality start of the year last night, allowing one run on five hits in six innings to earn his first win of the season. The lefty's effort dropped his ERA to 1.74, the lowest among all qualified starting pitchers in the Pioneer League. The Voyagers team ERA also dropped to 2.73 after last night, the best in the PL.
