Great Falls Pitches to Series Split with 3-1 Win

The Great Falls Voyagers (9-8) got the better of the Helena Brewers (7-9) on Wednesday from Kindrick Field, splitting the two-game series with a 3-1 win.
All the scoring came in the first three innings with the Voyagers pulling ahead 2-0 after the top of the first.
Dillon Haupt had a two-RBI double off Brewers starter Chad Thompson (2-2) to score both Toby Thomas and Hunter Jones. Haupt was 2-for-4 on the evening with a double, homerun and three RBI.
Thompson hurled seven strikeouts in the start, a season-high for the righty out of Lake Forest, CA.
Helena scored its lone run of the game in the bottom of the second when Greg McCall hit a solo homerun for his second round-tripper in professional baseball.
Chris Freundenberg (1-2) was solid in the start for Great Falls, getting through six innings, giving up one run on five hits and striking out four. The two pitching staffs once again combined for 20+ strikeouts.
There were zeroes across the board for both teams after the third as both bullpens threw well. Javi Salas and Donnie Hissa closed it out for the Brewers, combining for four strikeouts in four innings of shutout relief.
The Brewers will now travel to Great Falls to take on the Voyagers in a two-game series on the road. First pitch on Thursday is set for 7:00 p.m.
