GREAT FALLS, Mont. - The Great Falls Voyagers made it back-to-back victories over the Helena Brewers, taking a 3-2 decision on Thursday night at Centene Stadium.

After Helena (7-10) scored the contest's first run four batters into the game, the Voyagers (10-8) took the lead in the second against Brewer starter Devin Williams (1-2). Louie Lechich launched a two-run shot over the wall in center to give Great Falls the lead, and for Lechich, his first professional long ball.

The lead held until the fifth when the Brewers scratched across an unearned tally against Voyager starter Matt Ball (1-0). The righty worked his way out of the jam with consecutive strikeouts to end the inning, and leave the damage at one.

The Great Falls offense then gave Ball the lead right back in the home half of the frame, gaining some help from the Brewer defense. After Jake Peter singled, a pair of errors and a wild pitch allowed him to score the game's decisive run.

Ball left after the fifth inning, but stuck around long enough to earn the win, his first as a professional, before turning things over to his bullpen.

For the second straight night, the Voyager bullpen was lights out behind their starter. Grant Monroe tossed two scoreless frames before giving way to Devon Davis, who struck out the side in the eighth in his Great Falls debut.

Charlie Sharrer was then called upon in the ninth, retiring Helena in order to earn his first save of the season, and give the Voyagers four wins in five contests over the Brewers this season.

The Voyagers and Brewers wrap-up this quick two-game set Friday night at Centene Stadium. Great Falls will send right-hander Dane Stone (1-0, 2.20) to the hill, while the Brewers will turn to fellow righty Jorge Ortega (1-0, 2.95). First pitch is set for 7:00 and coverage will begin at 6:45 on 1400 AM KXGF and gfvoyagers.com.
