Norfolk Admirals News Release
CHICAGO - Former Admiral Pavel Vorobiev has signed with Khimik Mytischy to play in Russia this season, a decision the Blackhawks hope will help the skilled winger regain his scoring touch.
"We're not giving up on him," Blackhawks general manager Dale Tallon told chicagoblackhawks.com. "We feel he has a good future. He just has to get back his confidence offensively. This will be a good opportunity for him."
The Blackhawks retain Vorobiev's rights for three more years.
The Blackhawks' second choice (11th overall) in the 2000 Draft, Vorobiev scored six goals in the first 13 games last season but tallied just three in the following 26 games. In 32 games for the Admirals, Vorobiev recorded nine goals and 16 assists.
2005 1st round pick Jack Skille announced this week that he will return to the University of Wisconsin for his sophomore season.
"Jack had an excellent prospect camp last month in Chicago," said Blackhawks director of hockey operations Stan Bowman. "He has progressed as we hoped he would when we drafted him. The Wisconsin program had a great season and we are happy with his improvement over the course of the season. He is not far from being ready to play professionally and we are comfortable with him returning to Wisconsin for another season."
Skille, 19, told the Wisconsin State Journal this week that he wants to turn pro "when it's 100 percent, when I feel like I'm absolutely ready to make the jump." Skille was one of the standout players at the Blackhawks' recent Prospects Camp. He'll figure to be one of the go-to guys this season for the Badgers, who are coming off a national championship.
