Flames Sign Defenseman Brad Ference

Omaha, NE - The Calgary Flames, the National Hockey League affiliate of the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights, announced today the signing of defenseman Brad Ference. The announcement was made by Flames' General Manager Darryl Sutter. As per club policy, terms and conditions of the deal were not disclosed.

Ference split the 2005-06 season between San Antonio and Albany of the American Hockey League scoring 22 points (5 goals, 17 assists) and 135 penalty minutes with the two clubs. In 245 NHL career games with the Florida Panthers and Phoenix Coyotes, the Calgary native has collected 34 points (4 goals, 30 assists) and 563 penalty minutes.

The 6'3" 218 lbs. rearguard has represented Canada twice at the World Junior Championships (1998 and 1999-Silver Medal). Ference was drafted in the first round, 10th overall, by the Vancouver Canucks in the 1997 Entry Draft.

The Ak-Sar-Ben Knights are currently offering a special on group tickets. Any group of 15 or more that purchases tickets for the home opener on Friday, October 20th, for Saturday, November 4th or Saturday, December 16th will receive complementary tickets in the same seating area for another game during the season. The seats must be reserved and a deposit placed by September 1st.

The Ak-Sar-Ben Knights will release their schedule for the upcoming season during the first week in August.
