New Orleans VooDoo News Release

New Orleans VooDoo QB Andy Kelly's standout performance in the first month of the season earned him Arena Football League Offensive Player of the Month honors for February, it was announced by the league today.

Through the first five games of the season in leading the VooDoo to a 4-1 record, Kelly completed 153-of-221 passes for 1,569 yards with 32 touchdown passes and three interceptions. Kelly currently leads the Arena Football League in attempts, completions, completion percentage (69.2%) and touchdown passes. He is currently on a pace to set career highs in all of these categories, as well as with his 119.9 passer rating, which would surpass his prior career-high of 116.4 in 1999, which he attained with the Nashville Kats when VooDoo coach Mike Neu served as his offensive coordinator.

"Andy has done an outstanding job of running our offense and leading our team so far this season," said Neu. "He has been one of the elite quarterback's in the Arena Football League for a long time and what he has accomplished has helped us towards meeting our goals as a team."

Kelly previously earned the league's Offensive Player of the Week award following his performances in Weeks 2 and 3. This marks the first time that the former Volunteer has earned an AFL monthly award.

The VooDoo return to action this Saturday, May 5, when they travel to face the Dallas Desperados at the American Airlines Center at 7:30 p.m., in a battle between two 4-1 teams. The game will be broadcast on tape delay on Fox Sports Southwest at 10:30 p.m. and can be heard live on WSMB 1350 AM.
