Crush's Floyd named AFL's Defensive Player of the Month

Denver, Colo. - Colorado Crush defensive specialist Rashad Floyd has been named the Arena Football League's ADT Defensive Player of the Month for February, the league announced today.

Floyd (5-9, 180, Portland State), now in his fourth AFL season and second with Colorado, recorded a league-leading 51.5 tackles, along with 11 pass breakups, an interception and a forced fumble in guiding the Crush to a 3-2 record and the Central Division lead. Floyd, who has earned Defensive Player of the Game honors in four of the Crush's five games in 2005, has made 10+ tackles three times this season. He was named AFL Defensive Player of the Week following Week 5 after making an AFL single-game record 17.5 total tackles, including a tackle for a loss and three pass breakups in a 58-40 win over Los Angeles on February 27. At his current pace, Floyd would finish the season with 164.8 tackles, shattering his own AFL record of 123.0 which he set in 2004 with the Crush.

This marks the second time the All-Arena performer has an earned an AFL monthly honor. Floyd also earned Defensive Player of the Month for March of the 2004 season. He is the first Crush player to earn a monthly award this season and this is the third time in franchise history a player garnered Player of the Month honors. In addition to Floyd's two monthly awards, Damian Harrell was named Offensive Player of the Month in February of 2003.

The Crush (3-2) come off their bye week with a return to action March 12 at Nashville in hopes of retaining their Central Division lead and keeping pace in the American Conference.
