Salem-Keizer avoided a sweep Tuesday night as the Volcanoes shutout the Hops 7-0 at Volcanoes Stadium.

The Volcanoes wasted no time scoring early in the contest, tallying five runs through the game's first two innings. Miguel Gomez led the charge, belting a two-run home run in the first to push Salem-Keizer out in front. C.J. Hinojosa later blasted a solo home run - his second in as many days - to extend the advantage. Fernando Pujadas followed with a double before Junior Amion laced a single into center, scoring Pujadas and completing the four-run frame.

Salem-Keizer continued the barrage in the second, tacking on another run. Ronnie Jebavy singled to lead off the inning and later scored when Chris Shaw singled to center, pushing the lead to 5-0. In total, the Volcanoes sent 15 batters to the plate and collected eight hits through the game's first two innings of play.

The Volcanoes added to their lead in the fifth and sixth innings, scoring a single run in each frame. With Junior Amion at second and two outs in the fifth, Hops first baseman Josh Anderson dropped a line drive from Steven Duggar that allowed Amion to score. Fernando Pujadas then extended the advantage in the sixth, lifting a sacrifice fly to center that scored Shaw and pushed Salem-Keizer ahead, 7-0.

Nolan Riggs (3-1, 2.28 ERA), meanwhile, was outstanding in his first start since July 21, tossing six scoreless frames while scattering just three hits. Relievers Rayan Hernandez and Caleb Smith then combined for three perfect innings to secure the shutout.

Player of the Game: C.J. Hinojosa continued his hot streak, going 3-for-4 with a home run and a double. It was Hinojosa's third three-hit game in the last four times out.

Up Next: The Volcanoes begin a five-game road trip Wednesday night as they take on the Spokane Indians. Mike Connolly (0-3, 4.32 ERA) will start for Salem-Keizer. Cole Wiper (1-0, 0.90 ERA) will start for Spokane. The broadcast will be available on volcanoesbaseball.com or through the TuneIn Radio app. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. from Avista Stadium.
