August 12, 2015 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Vancouver Canadians News Release
(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - RF Sean Hurley hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the 9th inning that scored C Ryan Hissey breaking a 6-6 tie to salvage the final meeting of a three-game series against North Division leading Everett on Tuesday night.
Vancouver was sluggish out of the gates as LHP Michael Kraft gave up four earned runs in the top of the 1st inning before giving way to a bullpen that had a lot of work ahead of them.
The Canadians offense would take a little pressure off in the home half of the 1st inning scoring a pair of runs off of Aquasox starter Jose Santiago, but couldn't erase the deficit until the bottom of the 9th inning.
Vancouver trailed 4-0, 5-2 and 6-5 until tying the game in the bottom of the 6th inning when CF Andrew Guillotte reached base with a single and scored shortly after on a throwing error from Everett catcher Adam Martin.
Canadians LHP Turner Lee went 3 1/3 scoreless innings to get the game to the bottom of the 9th still tied at 6-6 before C Ryan Hissey was hit by a LHP Matt Clancy pitch. With Hissey on at first base, Clancy offered up a fastball on the outside portion of the plate to RF Sean Hurley who slammed it to the left center field gap scoring Hissey from first base giving the Canadians the 7-6 victory to move Vancouver to within a game of first in the North Division.
With the win, Vancouver improves to 6-7 (.461) while the Aquasox fall to 7-6 (.539) with 25 games remaining in the second half. Everett now travels south to Eugene to open up a five-game series against the Emeralds (8-5) while Vancouver leaves Wednesday morning for a five-game set in Hillsboro (8-5).
Notes: LHP Turner Lee has now gone 7 1/3 innings of no-hit baseball over his past four outings... Vancouver is 5-4 (.556) against the Aquasox in nine head-to-head meetings this season as Tuesday snapped a four-game losing streak to Everett... The Canadians rotation for the five-game series has been set against Hillsboro with Tayler Saucedo (8/12); Francisco Rios (8/13); Jon Harris (8/14); Evan Smith (8/15) and TBD (8/16) set for Ron Tonkin Field.
