KEIZER, Ore. - Leonardo Ochoa went 3-for-4 with his fifth home run of the season, helping the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes to a 7-3 victory over the Boise Hawks at Volcanoes Stadium.
Ochoa led off the third inning with a blast over the centerfield wall to give S-K a 3-0 lead, with a Joe Staley RBI ground out scoring Joe Panik later in the frame to push the margin to 4-0.
Ryan Cuneo extended his hit streak to ten with an RBI single in the sixth for Boise, cutting the margin to 4-2, but a two-run triple by Kaohi Downing and a Ben Thomas sacrifice fly in the seventh closed out the Hawks.
Panik and Downing eachadded two hits for the Volcanoes, as starter Paul Davis went five innings to log his first professional win. Chris Gloor got the final seven outs for his first save.
Mario Mercedes went 3-for-3 for the Hawks, including an RBI double, while Wes Darvill went 2-for-4.
Game 4 of the series is tomorrow night, with Willengton Cruz meeting Jack Snodgrass at 8:05 p.m. (MT)
