KEIZER, Ore. - Brett Krill hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth inning, lifting the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes to a 6-1 victory over the Boise Hawks, before 3,539 fans at Volcanoes Stadium.
After Joe Panik led off the sixth with a bloop double, Krill launched a 1-1 Hector Mayora pitch into the trees beyond the left field wall, to give S-K the lead for good. The hosts would tack on three insurance runs in the seventh, including RBI singles by Kaohi Downing and Mike Murray, to put the game away.
Jack Snodgrass went six innings of four-hit ball to pick up his fourth win of the year.
Hawks starter Jean Sandoval went three innings, striking out six, allowing just one hit in a no-decision. Dustin Harrington had three hits, while Brad Zapenas and Yaniel Cabezas each logged two for Boise.
The rubber game of the series is tomorrow night at 6:05 p.m. (MT), with Ben Wells getting the start for the Hawks.
