
Vipers Fend off Armor 134-103

HIDALGO, Texas - Troy Daniels led the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (10-1) 134-103 past the Springfield Armor (1-8) tonight at State Farm Arena.
Isaiah Canaan also led the Vipers with a double-double 23 points, 12 assists. Gary Talton added 17 points, followed by Tony Bishop with 15 points, his season high. Dario Hunt contributed 14 points, and Kevin Parrom tallied 13 points.
The Vipers connected on 18-of-41 on three-point shooting. Talton and Daniels each scored five three-point shots.
Dennis Horner led the Armor with 22 points, followed by Gary Forbes with 18 points. Marcus Hubbard scored 17 points. Justin Johnson added 12 points, and Willie Reed scored 11 points.
Reed put the first two points of the game on the board with a layup for the Armor. Canaan tied the game at two points with a layup, and Justin Johnson connected on a jump shot that gave Springfield its last lead of the game 4-2.
The Vipers held their largest lead of the first half, 40-24 one minute into the second quarter, courtesy of a three-point shot from Gary Talton. At the half, RGV led 70-55.
RGV continued to build their lead throughout the second half, and led by as much as 32 points in the fourth quarter.
